Temperament and everyday life

Calm at hometurbo when it matters.

A whippet is close to its people, quiet indoors and willing to cooperate—with one clear agreement: the sofa stays inside.

Calm at home turbo when it matters.

What matters

01

From working breeds to whippets

Before whippets, Marko bred Australian Shepherds and Nina bred Cane Corsos. That experience makes the contrast clear: whippets are usually calm, clean and unobtrusive at home, while forming very deep bonds with people.

02

People before kilometres

Whippets do not need hours of running every day. Contact, a shared routine and belonging matter more than organised exercise. They are sensitive, learn readily and usually have a strong will to please.

03

Not an outdoor dog

A short coat, thin skin and a strong need for human closeness mean a whippet belongs in a warm home, on its own bed or sofa. Active running in winter is different from sitting still in cold, wet weather.

04

Reserved is not fearful

A well-socialised whippet may ignore strangers until a relationship exists. That is not fear. With trusted people, whippets are affectionate, playful, brave and extremely curious. Rose ears carried back and a naturally low tail are normal breed anatomy, not proof of anxiety.

05

Home alone

A whippet can live with a working person or a single owner. Alone-time is taught gradually, and the safe space, water and toilet option must match the puppy’s age. Quality time before and after work matters.

Planned handover

If the puppies are born on 3 or 4 November, they will be eight weeks old on 29 or 30 December 2026. Handover in Croatia is planned from that age, subject to development and veterinary assessment. Handover in Slovenia at eight weeks depends on the young-animal derogation in force and the required documents.

For destinations requiring a valid primary rabies vaccination, the earliest planning point is 15 weeks: vaccination from 12 weeks followed by at least 21 days. With the estimated birth dates, this would be 16 or 17 February 2027. The microchip must precede the vaccination. Actual travel depends on vaccination and destination rules; a passport, health certificate and/or TRACES documentation may be needed for the transport arrangement. Non-EU import conditions are checked separately.

Veterinary procedures for the expected litter will be recorded after they have taken place. Vaccination, microchipping and parasite control will follow the veterinarian’s plan. Vaccination against other infectious diseases does not replace rabies vaccination.

Puppy prices and any additional boarding, veterinary, document and transport costs are agreed individually. Handover dates will be updated after birth.
